Using an Apple Magic Trackpad with Windows

Just sharing a tip with y’all about using Apple Magic Trackpad with Windows.

Getting one of these setup for basic functionality is quite easy (step 1 is to Bluetooth pair the device, step 2 – download and install the Apple driver http://www.trackpadcontrol.com/images/stories/download/Trackpad-Driver-Instal...).

The more annoying bit is that one it is setup, the “dragging” behaviour is quite annoying.  Unless you are very specific to remove your finger from the trackpad for a short period, often when you tap to select the trackpad will assume you are dragging, this has quite odd consequences (from text selection through to odd gesture behaviour in Firefox/Chrome).

I thought this was a simple fix by the normal Microsoft control panel, ensure that dragging is disabled.  Sadly this made no change to the situation.

The fix I’ve found is this $7 app called Magic Trackpad Control Panel, basically allows you to turn off tap dragging as per the picture below.  28 day free eval here - http://www.trackpadcontrol.com/images/stories/download/Trackpad-Control-Setup...

PS – A little tip, instead of purchasing one of the expensive keyboard and mouse adaptors, just use some 3M Command micro hooks with some elastic bands.  This keeps the trackpad flush with your keyboard!

Why my iPad2 has turned out to be a cracker

1: Double the ram = more stability and usability (especially with web browsing multiple sites)
2: Faster processor = ability to watch high def video content
3: Smaller size = can be used as a reading device without stretching your arms & fits in my laptop back with my laptop
4: Cameras = great for video calling (great whilst travelling)
5: The auto turn on when you open the magnetic, I know my fridge has had this feature for years, doesn't stop me from been captivated ;)

For me as a travelling type, my iPad2 reserves a mandatory place in my laptop bag, for more than my iPad1 (that my wife is now enjoying).
